Most artists do a series like this at one time or another, especially if they have children or grandchildren. Since I spent many years of my professional career as a graphic designer, I was constantly dealing with a variety of letter and number forms as parts of different design projects. Developing my own numbers and letters in an artistic style seemed a logical extension of my previous work.
